6 Ways To End The Year Well

6 Ways To End The Year Well

2018 will be upon us in a few days and before we resolve to be a new person on the 1st of January, we have a few friendly tips on what you can do to wrap up 2017 and end the year well before starting the new one on a fresh new slate.

Here are 6 things to make time for before bidding 2017 a fond farewell and starting 2018 on a good note!

1. Review 2017

As they say, hindsight is 20/20. 365 days is a long time and it’s easy to forget all that we’ve achieved over the course of the year. Sit down and take stock of what’s happened over the last 12 months that’s led you to where you are in life at this particular moment.

Time passes so quickly you may not even have had time to properly absorb all of your experiences. You just might be surprised at the goodness and happiness you’ve experienced over the course of the year.

2. Highlight the successes

While reviewing your year, make a list of the best things you’ve accomplished this year and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. You’ll be amazed at all the accomplishments (big and small) you’ve made over the past 12 months without even realising it.

Maybe you committed to exercising, got the job of your dreams, ticked things off your bucket list or finally got your own house. No matter how trivial it may seem, personal successes and accomplishments are worth toasting to. *clink*

3. Thank those that have made your year

No man is an island and you couldn’t have made it through without your support system. Express gratitude to those that have been there for you and made a difference to your year.

Let them know how they’ve made your year better and how much they mean to you. This will help you forge stronger bonds for the future.

While you’re at it, try and make amends with those you might’ve hurt over the last year and vice versa by leting go of anger and resentment that you’ve been holding on to.

4. List down the things you wish you did this year, but didn’t

Just as we take note of our successes and celebrate them, we also need to know where we fall short. List down what you meant to accomplish this year but didn’t and think about how you intend to make it happen in the New Year.

Accept that you didn’t achieve all that you set out to and don’t beat yourself up over it. Let it go and acknowledge that next year you’ll do better.

5. Create new goals for the new year

While you’re in that reflective state looking back on what you’ve achieved and where you’ve fallen short, take some time to think about what you want to achieve for the coming year.

Evaluate your life, list the goals you want to achieve for the coming year and focus your attention on how you intend to achieve that life for yourself. Set yourself up for success by keeping it realistic.

6. Celebrate

Cheers to the 365 days you’ve lived in 2017 and look forward to the whole year you have ahead of you in 2018 to make a difference.

Set aside some time before the year ends to get this done and you’ll be in a great place to have the best year of your life yet! Enter the new year with a positive mindset and get excited about the 365 days to come.

See you next year!
